About
Who is Maeta?
Maeta is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter from Indianapolis, Indiana, signed to Roc Nation. Born Maeta Rose Hall on March 16, 2000, she grew up in an artistic household — her mother, Tobie Hall, is a painter and her father, John Hall, a drummer — and started singing at seven after seeing Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love" video, drawn to R&B and soul.
As a teenager, she began posting original songs online, which helped her build an audience, In 2019, she released her debut EP Do Not Disturb independently. She later signed with Roc Nation and continued to develop her sound under the label. Her voice is a blend of raw power and velvet softness — earned her immediate comparisons to Aaliyah and SZA, but Maeta carved her own path.
Discography
Her EP Habits (2021), led by the single "Teen Scene" (produced by KAYTRANADA, feat. Buddy), introduced a more confident and experimental Maeta. Her first full-length project When I Hear Your Name (June 2023), a 13‑track album, marked a major breakthrough and features collaborations with top R&B writers and producers like SZA, Kehlani, Demi Lovato, Lucky Daye, and James Fauntleroy. The single “Through The Night” featuring Free Nationals reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart in late March 2024.
In June 2024, she surprised everyone with Endless Night, a 7-track EP produced entirely by KAYTRANADA, marking a bold dance/club turn. That same year, she joined Chris Brown's 11:11 Tour as an opening act alongside Ayra Starr and Muni Long.
Notable collaborations
Beyond her own projects, Maeta has collaborated with Tone Stith ("Something in the Water"), RINI ("Over Some Wine"), Vic Mensa ("Strawberry Louis Vuitton"), and Chris Brown ("Best Ever").
In April 2024, Maeta signed her first exclusive global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music, joining a roster of top songwriters.
